报告人简介：Professor Valery M Nakariakov is Full Professor of Physics at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom (Warwick is 52th in the QS World University Ranking). His main research interest covers solar coronal physics and plasma astrophysics, with the main emphasis on MHD wave processes. Nakariakov’s h-index of 50 (WoS), his standing in the research community is demonstrated by his serving as President of the European Solar Physics Division (2011-2014), Chair of the UK solar physics community (2010-2013), and the 2015 IoP Payne-Gaposchkin Medal and Prize. He graduated from the Lobachevskii’s Nizhny Novgorod State University, USSR, in 1989 with the diploma in Radiophysics, and gained a PhD in Plasma Physics in 1993 at the Applied Physics Institute of RAS, Russia, in 1993. Since 1995 he lives and works in the UK, and has an honorary position at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of RAS, Russia.
报告摘要：In 2019 we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of quasi-periodic pulsations (QPP) in light curves of the solar flaring emission by Park & Winckler (1969ApJ...155L.117P). The observational study and theoretical modelling of QPP became an important research avenue, and addressing both solar and stellar flares, based on the use of high-resolution multi-instrumental multi-wavelength data. We review the current understanding of QPP in solar and stellar flares, focusing on possible physical mechanisms generating them, address the similarity of QPP in solar flares and stellar superflares and its implications for space weather, and discuss future directions and key unanswered questions of this emerging research field.
